The challenge
Parametric insurance pays out when a measurable index crosses an agreed level, rather than after an individual loss assessment. That makes the underlying geospatial data and the way it is processed central to the product: the initiative needs a system that turns its requirements into dependable spatial data workflows and tools that the project team can use. The work is ongoing, so details of the scheme itself are not described here.
Approach
Suman works with the project team to translate project needs into data workflows, analytical components and user-facing geospatial functionality, and coordinates technical implementation and delivery with the team, supported by documentation.
Decision-support building blocks: an index-based product depends on regularly updated spatial data feeding an analytical layer, defined thresholds, and an interface through which the team can inspect results. This project draws on all of those.
